Dare to Dance - About Us
Principal: Michele Enthoven
I attended the Karen Owen School of Dance from 1984-2000 where I studied Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz and National through the BBO (British Ballet Organisation).
I graduated from the Bachelor of Arts (Dance) from Adelaide University in 1995 and gained my teaching qualification through the BBO in 2001.
I first started Dare to Dance back in 2001 where classes were taught in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and National Character.
In 2005 Hip Hop was introduced to the school. As of 2007 we no longer offered Ballet, Tap and Jazz as I needed to spend more time with my 2 young children.
In 2012 I wanted to further my study to ensure I was teaching current safe dance practices and I successfully completed the Skill Set for Dance Teachers through Ausdance SA.
I have a current Senior First Aid certificate, Child Safe Mandatory Reporting training and a current National Police Clearance.
Located in Para Hills, we are a well-established school, having recently celebrated our 10th anniversary. As principle teacher, I have 20 years experience and our school boasts a 100% examination success rate.
As a small school, committed to inspiring and nurturing creativity, we believe that all students are unique and special, and that performing is a magical way to tap into individual talents and expression.
In small classes, we focus on supporting individuality and self-expression, inspiring courage and confidence and developing solid skills.
Our aim is to encourage a love of performing and being part of a team. But most of all we want to ensure our students are experiencing success and having fun.
Exams are encouraged but not compulsory and our concerts are a highlight and an excellent night of showcasing the students’ achievements.
We do not compete in competitions. I have always felt that young students should be encouraged to perform and develop their talent and individual style in a non competitive relaxed environment.
